A large body of research literature now supports the importance of music in the school
curriculum, providing evidence that:
is universal in every culture.
human being possesses musical ability.
musical ability to its fullest requires early nurturing of musical potential, particularly during these years of rapid brain
study of music provides students with an understanding of important aspects of a particular culture that are unavailable through
any other means.
are very strong links between learning in music and in other areas of the school curriculum (like aspects of musical note
values and fractions in mathematics, and reading words and reading music).
For all these reasons, besides
offering a music program throughout the week, we will also count with a program of recorder lessons, in which the children
will learn to read a few music notes and play simple melodies.
